West Coast Surf Camp Held in August 2021

Report of the Surf Camp 2021

by Susan Felsenthal-Janer

West Coast Surf Camp 2021 The 17th annual West Coast Surf camp was held at Dockweiler State Beach, on August 9, 10 and 11. Over 20 people attended Surf Camp this year. Many came from the Bay Area and Las Vegas to enjoy the Ocean Challenge and fellowship.

Captain Jack Ashworth lead the activities every day. Each morning began with study and prayer. Our study focused on True Parents Words about the amazing beauty of the ocean, especially learning about the natural resources that the ocean possesses. The ocean has the potential to feed and serve all the people of the world. Our True Parents love the ocean very much!

The participants this year, ranging in age from 2 years old to 75 years young, challenged themselves surfing and enjoying the beach sand. You are never too young or too old to understand the beauty of God's Creation. Many of this year’s participants are teenagers, some of them never surfed before. Surfer Toku Henkin taught beginner surf lessons to them. By the end of the third day they were standing on the board like pros. On the second day we enjoyed boat rides. Captain Jack's boat is a Good Go boat which is good for fishing. Captain Dan Hallal's Boat is a sailboat that can go very fast if the wind catches the sails just right!

The food was great because Mrs. Myung Ja Ashworth sent us lunch every day. We had a barbecue or pizza party every night. Plus, good coffee in the morning! Everyone had a great time!!
