Surf Camp 2025
New Date for Advanced Surfers: August 13-15
Due to a variety of factors we have changed our August Surf Camp dates to Wednesday, August 13 through Friday, August 15. We're sorry if this interferes with your plans or prevents anyone from attending.
Like last year we will be meeting daily at Doheny State Beach from about 8 AM until the afternoon. Attendees are welcome to come for the first, second or third day or camp for three nights or any combination that suits your schedule.
We will be camping at Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park at the Live Oak Campground. As before our preferred campsites are # 25, 24, 23, 22, 21 and 19.
Some campers will be driving down the day before and staying the night of August 12. If you wish to do so let me know and I'll try to coordinate.
Last year the Senior rate for campsites was $15 per night and extra vehicles were charged $5 per night, with a limit of 2 vehicles per campground.
The parking charge at Doheny was $15 per vehicle but may have increased.
Many city libraries offer free day passes for state parks but these must be arranged several days ahead of time. Check with your local library, you may save yourself some $$. (Parking fees are not included in the cost of surf camp)
Wavestorm boards and some wetsuits will be available for use. However if you stay overnight you will need to bring your own camping equipment including tent, sleeping bag, pad, etc.
Last year we were extremely fortunate to have Uncle Andy cook most of our meals. At the moment our cooking arrangements are TBD.
At the moment daily fees are TBD but as in previous years they are expected to be low, probably under $30 per day.
From Wednesday evening I will be on the east coast for two weeks but should be reachable via email or text for any questions or comments.
If you are planning to attend please let us know by August 7 at the latest.
Thanks again for your interest,
