Letter from Justin Fleischman
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
True Mother’s visit to Senegal in January 2018 was a moment of powerful providential significance. Her deep heartfelt prayer at the former slave house in Goree Island opened the doors for liberation of millions of people who had previously been locked under layers of resentment and pain.
Patricia, one of the original missionaries to Senegal in 1975, and I were blessed to be able to witness the Africa Summit conference in January when True Mother spoke to 1200 parliamentarians, religious leaders, tribal and traditional chiefs, university professors and women and business leaders from all over Africa.
In the victory celebration following the conference, she declared that Senegal would become the center of all Unification work in Africa. She instructed that the offices of all the African providential organizations be moved to a single building in Dakar, the national capital.
The Senegalese members are absolutely determined to fulfill the responsibilities given to Senegal by True Parents, so they are working very, very hard even though their circumstances are quite challenging. Many of them support church activities as well as their own families by selling roasted peanuts, Baobab fruit (from a native tree) and other locally-available products in kiosks along the streets.
For many years, they have depended only on local public transportation. No Senegalese member owns their own vehicle. Patricia and I have committed to raise $55,000 to buy a minivan to shuttle VIPs and members plus a passenger car for use by the national leader. These vehicles are essential for the members to be able to fulfill providential activities as well as being viewed as a substantial and credible organization. In the developed world, we take these tools for granted; in Africa (and especially in Senegal) the members have learned to very graciously and humbly tolerate the handicaps caused by their absence.
