As we are all excited toward the special weekend during this holiday season - "Revival Starts With Me" Rally on Dec. 16 at City of Refuge, and "Int'l Celebration of Christmas" on Dec. 17 at Old World Village, some thoughts may arise in your mind. "Why do we have rallies for North and South Korea unification?" "How it is possible?" We invite you to read the message by Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 2000, titled "World unification and North-South Unification Will Be Accomplished by True Love". "...Once North-South unification is accomplished in Korea, the unification of the world will follow automatically. Do you think that political power, military force, or economic wealth can bring about unification? There isn't even the slightest chance of this. That is the reason I am speaking to you in this way.
Read MoreBefore the Blessing, I was working for the Washington Times. I was one of the very first people to come to the Washington Times. Actually, before that I was working for the News World Press, in New York. We used to print the News World communications. I used to go to the Tiffany building from New Jersey to get the negatives, the plates for the rollers. One time I came to New York to get the plates and I saw this huge number of members, a lot of them foreign, very well-looking people. So there was some kind of a meeting, and this meeting was about who would be joining the Washington Times. It didn’t exist yet, and Father was really “Let’s set up this”. I was very excited to see all of this, and I picked up my plates and went back to New Jersey.

She told me about her younger sister Rebecca, who had joined the church, struggled a lot and left. Since then she had been married and had children, but now she was thinking of coming back. She gave me her phone number. I went out to visit Rebecca in the town she lived in, in an apartment just like the hundreds I had fundraised in. I just asked her how she was doing and let her talk. She poured out her struggles, experiences good and bad, her hopes and fears. Over several visits, she talked everything out. She was considering how to return. One day, as I was leaving, she wanted to give me something. The only thing she could find in her apartment was a bag of apples she had just bought.
Read MoreThere are several speeches of Rev. Sun Myung Moon in which he mentioned about Thanksgiving. Today we want to share one of his speeches, "God's Hope for America", October 21, 1973 at Washington , D.C. Here is an excerpt from the speech, section "A winter of heartbreak". This continent of America was hidden away for a special purpose and was not discovered until the appropriate hour. The people of God came at the appointed hour. They came to mold the new way of life. Their principal partner was God. At home, in caring for their children, in farming or. cooking or building, they let God share their work. He was the only security they had. A farmer might talk to his son working out in the field with him. "Let's plow this field in the name of God."
Read MoreI joined at a volatile time in history. Just in time (by three months) to participate in TF speech in MSG and on to Yankee Stadium and Washington Monument. I was so grateful to have assisted, on some level, in those providential landmarks. Very exciting times with an intimate experience with TP every step of the way. I have vivid memories and thoughts of my impression (as such a young member) in our church at that time. On the day of the event, June 1, 1976, it was to be the kick off event for the year long “Bicentennial God Bless America Festival” celebrating a truly historic day, America’s 200 year anniversary. The air, energy, and spirit in and around Yankee Stadium was highly charged with anticipation. Something big was about to happen, what exactly it was not sure.
Read MoreI was in New York Church when Rev Song took over. He was a tall, burly, charismatic guy. He’d been the leader of a kid’s gang on the hill in Pusan where Father and Won Pil Kim built a hut out of cardboard. The kids harassed Father at first, then came over to his side and helped him. Anyway, there were all kinds of Korean leaders. Some would tell you how to clean your car’s engine with a toothbrush. I was on the front desk at 43rd street HQ when Rev Song came by. He sniffed the air and I heard him say “Spiritual smell….good”. Then he smiled and walked away. A few minutes later a whiff from the kitchen hit me and I realized he’d really said “Pizza smell…..good.” My sleepy night shift at the front desk was interrupted the next morning by rapid footsteps coming down the stairs at 3am. Rev Song trotted by and out the door, followed quickly by Roddy Joyce, our Aussie general affairs brother.

Read MoreWhen I was on my own in 1977 selling IL Hwa wholesale during the day and fundraising in the evening to cover expenses. I ended up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey a little after 5 pm. It was too late to try to find any health food stores and the town had such a nice name that I decided to start fundraising a bit early when I saw a cluster of brick apartment buildings. Unfortunately, no one spoke English and no one had money. I believe they were very poor Russian immigrants – only women were home. Finally after about 30 minutes with only one donation of 25 cents, I met a woman who spoke English. She asked to see some ID, and I showed her my church ID card in my wallet. She took my wallet, invited me inside, and called the police. Then she asked me to sit and wait “while we get to the bottom of this.”
