The Heretics of the Times

Watch the full sermon "The Heretics of the Times" by Rev. Young Tack Yang on March 18, 2018.

Bible verse: Matthew 27:27-44 (NIV)

27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said...

What is True Faith?

Read the full sermon "True Courage, True Faith" by Rev. Young Tack Yang on January 21, 2018.

Bible verse: 1 Samuel 17: 421-29 (NIV)

41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. 42 He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. 43 He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”

How to Gain Spiritual Help

New year 2018 started. Many people make a new year resolution. How to maintain the mindset one had at the beginning of the year without feeling it fading day by day? How to accomplish my goal this year? Here is Rev. Sun Myung Moon's speech "How to Gain Spiritual Help" on November 27, 1978.

What attitude do we need to nurture in order to move the spirit world? We need to change our concepts. Our attitude is an environment that must be prepared in order to receive spiritual help.

Unification Will Be Accomplished by True Love

As we are all excited toward the special weekend during this holiday season - "Revival Starts With Me" Rally on Dec. 16 at City of Refuge, and "Int'l Celebration of Christmas" on Dec. 17 at Old World Village, some thoughts may arise in your mind. "Why do we have rallies for North and South Korea unification?" "How it is possible?" We invite you to read the message by Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 2000, titled "World unification and North-South Unification Will Be Accomplished by True Love". "...Once North-South unification is accomplished in Korea, the unification of the world will follow automatically. Do you think that political power, military force, or economic wealth can bring about unification? There isn't even the slightest chance of this. That is the reason I am speaking to you in this way.

You Choose, Father

Before the Blessing, I was working for the Washington Times. I was one of the very first people to come to the Washington Times. Actually, before that I was working for the News World Press, in New York.  We used to print the News World communications. I used to go to the Tiffany building from New Jersey to get the negatives, the plates for the rollers. One time I came to New York to get the plates and I saw this huge number of members, a lot of them foreign, very well-looking people. So there was some kind of a meeting, and this meeting was about who would be joining the Washington Times. It didn’t exist yet, and Father was really “Let’s set up this”. I was very excited to see all of this, and I picked up my plates and went back to New Jersey.

Apples Received by Heaven

In the early 90s, when I was state leader of South Carolina, I got a phone call from a church sister. She told me about her younger sister Rebecca, who had joined the church, struggled a lot and left. Since then she had been married and had children, but now she was thinking of coming back. She gave me her phone number. I went out to visit Rebecca in the town she lived in, in an apartment just like the hundreds I had fundraised in. I just asked her how she was doing and let her talk. She poured out her struggles, experiences good and bad, her hopes and fears. Over several visits, she talked everything out. She was considering how to return. One day, as I was leaving, she wanted to give me something. The only thing she could find in her apartment was a bag of apples she had just bought.

"The Beautiful Tradition"

There are several speeches of Rev. Sun Myung Moon in which he mentioned about Thanksgiving. Today we want to share one of his speeches, "God's Hope for America", October 21, 1973 at Washington , D.C. Here is an excerpt from the speech, section "A winter of heartbreak". This continent of America was hidden away for a special purpose and was not discovered until the appropriate hour. The people of God came at the appointed hour. They came to mold the new way of life. Their principal partner was God. At home, in caring for their children, in farming or. cooking or building, they let God share their work. He was the only security they had. A farmer might talk to his son working out in the field with him. "Let's plow this field in the name of God."

I was there… Yankee Stadium

I joined at a volatile time in history. Just in time (by three months) to participate in TF speech in MSG and on to Yankee Stadium and Washington Monument. I was so grateful to have assisted, on some level, in those providential landmarks. Very exciting times with an intimate experience with TP every step of the way. I have vivid memories and thoughts of my impression (as such a young member) in our church at that time. On the day of the event, June 1, 1976, it was to be the kick off event for the year long “Bicentennial God Bless America Festival” celebrating a truly historic day, America’s 200 year anniversary. The air, energy, and spirit in and around Yankee Stadium was highly charged with anticipation. Something big was about to happen, what exactly it was not sure.

Rev. Song Loves Songs

I was in New York Church when Rev Song took over. He was a tall, burly, charismatic guy. He’d been the leader of a kid’s gang on the hill in Pusan where Father and Won Pil Kim built a hut out of cardboard. The kids harassed Father at first, then came over to his side and helped him. Anyway, there were all kinds of Korean leaders. Some would tell you how to clean your car’s engine with a toothbrush. I was on the front desk at 43rd street HQ when Rev Song came by. He sniffed the air and I heard him say “Spiritual smell….good”. Then he smiled and walked away. A few minutes later a whiff from the kitchen hit me and I realized he’d really said “Pizza smell…..good.” My sleepy night shift at the front desk was interrupted the next morning by rapid footsteps coming down the stairs at 3am. Rev Song trotted by and out the door, followed quickly by Roddy Joyce, our Aussie general affairs brother.

There He is, Lock Him Up!

When I was on my own in 1977 selling IL Hwa wholesale during the day and fundraising in the evening to cover expenses. I ended up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey a little after 5 pm. It was too late to try to find any health food stores and the town had such a nice name that I decided to start fundraising a bit early when I saw a cluster of brick apartment buildings. Unfortunately, no one spoke English and no one had money. I believe they were very poor Russian immigrants – only women were home. Finally after about 30 minutes with only one donation of 25 cents, I met a woman who spoke English. She asked to see some ID, and I showed her my church ID card in my wallet. She took my wallet, invited me inside, and called the police. Then she asked me to sit and wait “while we get to the bottom of this.”

Sunday School, UTS and Belvedere

Well, back in the day, Sunday School involved whatever whoever wanted to volunteer thought of doing. This was well before we had a curriculum. At UTS, the seminary, I was in a ministry class that required me to do some kind of ministry work for a couple of months and reflect on it. I was informed that UTS had a sunday school for the BC population, which was around 8 or maybe 12 children. with ages from around 6 to 14. There they were in the chapel, some of them sitting there looking bored, others swinging their feet several inches above the ground as they sat. And there was Dietrich Seidel, with a chalkboard, giving them a lecture on Jacob’s 21 year course, and how it paralleled True Father’s course. Riveting material for the younger generation. “I’ve been doing this because there is no one else.

Kidnapped, But in a Dream, “It’s Time to Come Back”

I was only a few months in the church and we lived in a nice center.  Father’s poster for Washington Monument was so huge. I joined and I didn’t communicate with my sister and I didn’t communicate with anyone because I had a job. But they found out somehow, I must have sent a card with the church address, because they came to the center. It was my brother and two of my brothers-in-law who came, and I should have had anticipation, why did they come to see me?, with what was going on with the church. They said do you want to come with us? So I went with them and they pushed me into the car. They drove straight for four hours and I was crying and was upset that I was in this situation.

Saeilo For a Year

When I graduated from MFT in 1982 I was given a choice and chose to go for a business mission so I was sent to Saeilo in Chicago under David Rendall. Our church believes in on the job training, because I didn’t receive any training on metal cutting machinery. While on MFT I was often sent as a pioneer to a new area or product. I was the first MFTer to go to Alaska, sent in 1976, and then after Alaska was sent as the second team to go to Hawaii.

The True Story of These Sioux Blessing Couples

I am the person who invited this group to our Conference. When the Blessing opened for people I convinced them to attend the Blessing ceremony which they did. Shortly afterwards the State Leader Jim Gavin asked Elaine Quiver if they will support a Grand Parents workshop and Blessing on Pine Ridge Reservation and they said NO. Then the Regional Leaded called Elaine and asked the same question. And she said NO again.

Selling Laser Prints

Our church started a lot of businesses, some for lofty reasons, some just to make money. There were and are so many of that I can’t do them justice. If you were a part of any church business, would you be willing to record something about what it was, and some of your experiences? We need your input on this to tell the story properly. I can talk about my experiences.

Music Was My Isaac

Well, here goes. We’ve all heard about “the Isaac”. Something we love so much that it is like “killing a part of our soul” to “offer it up”. For me, first it was my music. During college I had “discovered” the guitar and devoted countless hours to learn a few basic chords. I learned quickly and started performing at coffee houses and small school programs. I started writing songs about my “inner world”.

In My Dream, Father Hit My Head With His Shoe

In 1981 I was the President of Going Up Press and we had a printing company in Belleville, New Jersey.  One day I had a dream where True Father was walking next to me down a long dark corridor and he stopped and took off his shoe and hit me on the head. That was my dream. Three days later I was at the printing company when True Father came to visit. I was asked to give True Father a tour of the facility. So, Col. Han told me to walk next to True Father and show him the printing company.

We Were There, a Calling From God

Joining the church back in 1978, there were some things I had to give up. I loved acting, dancing, reading books and being by myself for long periods of time. From the time I joined, there was no reading books except for the Divine Principle or speeches, no acting, a little dancing in Oakland and none on MFT. And from the time I joined I was around people constantly, unless I was at a workshop which had meditation time.
