Report of the 10th Annual Seonghwa Memorial Festival

The Seonghwwa Ministry at the Los Angeles Family Church hosted the 10th Annual Seonghwa Memorial Festival on the evening of Saturday, November 3 at the Pasadena House.
A beautiful table with flowers and offerings were prepared by the Oiwa family and Mrs. Shigeko Lograsso. Keith McCarthy, the emcee, opened the program. After singing a holy song, emcee explained the significance of Seonghwa.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

True Parents founded Unification Church International in 1977 to support Unification Churches throughout around the world. However, in 2009, Preston Hyun Jin Moon and certain Unification Church International board members began to take things in a different direction. In April 2010, they went so far as to amend the Articles of Incorporation to remove all references to the Unification Church and the Divine Principle and rename the corporation “UCI”.

On a sunny Saturday morning as early as 6:30 am, 8 serious fishers from age 9 to 50+ gathered at the dock of Marina Del Rey. The wind was calm and seemed to have smooth boat ride. But as soon as the boat left the bay into the open water, the wave kept rocking the boat and made fishing people hard to keep standing while fishing.

On a sunny day in Southern California in still mid-summer-like weather, the community of Los Angeles Family Church celebrated two newly Blessed Couples at the Pasadena House. About 70 people gathered to attend the live broadcast of 6th Anniversary of True Father's Seonghwa and Hyojeong Cosmic Blessing Ceremony. We had two couples to participate in the Blessing Ceremony, both grooms are local. Brides came from Japan and Nicaragua.

Report of Surf Camp 2018

Once again, Captain Jack Ashworth and Captain Dan Hallal invited surfers from around the country to join in a 3-day Surfin’ Safari from August 13 to 15 in sunny Southern California. Meeting at the Doheny State Beach, 15 fearless young surfers spent the first day braving the rocks and the pounding waves, all paddled out to meet the challenging ocean.

BCSF 2018 Held at UTS

BCSF (Blessed Culture and Sports Festival) 2018 was held at the UTS from August 8 to 12. This year, our local young athletes formed California Soccer Team for the second year. In spite of the rainy weather when players need to run through the rain on muddy field, they kept strong sportsmanship and shone through the tournament. California Soccer Team won the second place!

Report of National Parents' Day 2018

This year again we celebrated National Parents Day at Pasadena City Hall on Saturday, July 28th, 2018. We had 29 nominated couples and with some of the family members in attendance we had about 120 - 150 people participating, including church members. This was bigger than last year with a lot of distinguished couples. For example Dr. and Mrs. Jacobs were close students of Dr. Martin Luther King and participated in the civil rights movement.

Seonghwa Ceremony held for Mrs. Bo Hee Lee in Korea

Mrs. Bo Hee Lee (72 Blessing couple), mother of Rev. Young Tack Yang, District Pastor of District 12 and  Senior Pastor of Los Angeles Family Church, has passed away on July 26 in Korea at age 77. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Jun Su Yang and their 5 children (4 boys and 1 girl; Rev. Yang is the eldest son), and grandchildren. Rev. Yang traveled to Korea and will return on August 4. We sincerely send our condolences to the Yang family.

BCSF 2018 Registration is Open!

We are happy to announce that registration for BCSF is now open! The festival will be from Aug 8th - Aug 12th and will likely be the last year the festival is hosted on UTS grounds. If you are interested in captaining please fill out a "Local Registration Form" so I know what you are interested in (Main Sports: Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, and Frisbee). There is also a possibility of a Fortnite tournament, if you interested please let us know so we can make the proper arrangements!
